In-House Program

The MHA In-House program consists of Mighty Mites/6U Girls, Mites and 8U Girls levels.  Registration for all levels begins in August and remains open through October. Preseason ice times begin in early October and teams are formed late October in time for a regular season start in early November. In-House levels generally have 2-3 events (practices, games, dry land training) per week through March (depending on level/division).  Ice times are typically at Minnehaha Academy Ice Arena, Parade Ice Garden or Northeast Ice Arena.  Please click the links below for additional information about what to expect at each level.  If you are new to hockey, you can find additional info about hockey in Minnesota and MHA here.

Mighty Mites/6U Girls

Mighty Mites is a beginner level for players born between 6/1/2016 – 5/31/18 (i.e. generally Pre-K and Kindergarten), but may also be the right fit for any beginner player 8 or under with minimal to no skating or ice hockey experience. Mighty Mites will have one pre-season open skate the last weekend in October. The regular season begins the first weekend in November.

Mites

Mites is a beginner/intermediate level for players born between 6/1/2013 - 5/31/2016. Most Mite players have between 1-4 years of prior organized hockey experience. Players registered for the Mite level will be divided into three divisions based on age/grade (Mite 1, Mite 2 or Mite 3) by the Mite Director. Mite pre-season clinics will begin the first weekend in October and the regular season will begin the first weekend in November.

8U Girls

8U Girls is a beginner/intermediate level for girl players born between 6/1/2013 - 5/31/2016. Players registered for the Girls 8U level will be divided into teams of similar skill level. 8U Girls pre-season clinics will begin the first weekend in October and the regular season will begin the first weekend in November.

Interested in helping as a coach or team manager?

The quality of each player's experience every season is tied heavily to the coaches and team manager. The MHA In-House program is run entirely by volunteers, typically parent/guardian/relatives of players. Families of Mite and 8U Girls players are required to meet the MHA volunteer requirements - becoming a coach or team manager is a great way to get involved and satisfy volunteer requirements. Deep hockey skill/experience/knowledge is not necessary.

If you are interested in helping your player's team in some capacity as a coach, you can find more information about coaching requirements here. To ensure all coaches have a baseline knowledge of hockey concepts, practice planning/execution, safety and injury awareness, insurance from USA Hockey, etc. all of the listed requirements must be completed prior to stepping on the ice. VOLUNTEER HOURS CANNOT BE DISTRIBUTED TO ANYONE MISSING ANY OF THESE REQUIREMENTS.
