We strive to continue to make the Storm Goalie program the best in the state. To produce top notch goaltenders at the senior levels, we must first start by acknowledging and creating interest at the introductory levels. We at Storm truly appreciate our goaltenders and thus the time and effort we have put forth into our goalie program. We recognize the importance of attracting the young skaters to the position and thus will continue to throw our efforts their way. This page will build and continue in that effort. Please continue to check in as we add to this tab prospectively.

Hello Prospective Parents of Storm Goalies:
(Coaches and Team Managers please also read)
My name is Joel Laing and I am the Storm Goalie Coordinator.
Our philosophy for young goalie development is centered first around ensuring the player has sound skating skills. So, we encourage players to skate out more often than not in Mites/8U, especially through the first half of the mite 3/8U (referencing the players last season at this age level…typically 3rd graders). A strong skating foundation is required for goalies to have fun and have success as a goalie.
Each Mite 3/8U team has a set of equipment. Your team manager (or a coach) will coordinate who has the equipment and help facilitate who gets to be goalie for the weekend. We encourage all players to give it at least a one weekend try. As the season progresses, those that are more interested in goalie will get more and more opportunities to play the position. Please manage this expectation with your respective team’s manager/coaches.
Once your player reaches Squirts/12U, we host weekend goalie specific clinics ran by David Cole (professional goalie instructor). Based on parent feedback and last year’s clinics, we have made the determination this year to designate more specific goalie clinics to be for Mite/8Us.
A few important considerations before signing up your player for these clinics:
Please let me know if you have questions,
